At Bishop Miege, we are committed to making our exceptional, faith-based education accessible to as many families as possible.
We provide an exceptional college-preparatory education rooted in Catholic values — all at one of the most competitive tuition rates in the area. To make this opportunity accessible, we offer a range of financial aid options to help our families. This year, Bishop Miege awarded more than $1.6 million in financial assistance, with 50% of our students receiving aid. Guided by our mission to serve students and meet their individual needs, our programs are designed to support families from all backgrounds.

Breadwinner Fund will pay the full tuition through graduation if primary breadwinner of the family dies while the student is enrolled at Bishop Miege.
Student/Parent Activities: MABC (Miege Activities Booster Club) and Mother’s Club plan and sponsor various student and parent social activities. Already planned for this year are student mixers and a parent event. This fee helps defray the cost for these and other community building activities.
Technology fee supplements cost for maintenance of computers and software upgrades.

Bishop Miege uses Blackbaud Financial Aid Management for the processing of all financial aid and scholarships. There is a $30 application fee due with the application.

Applications submitted without documentation will not be processed.
- Most recent paystubs
- Most recent W-2 forms for all jobs.
- Most recently filed federal tax returns: 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ with all schedules. (will require to finalize all awards)
- Most recently filed business tax return: 1120, 1120S, 1065 (if applicable).
- Supplemental income documentation: Social Security income, welfare, food stamps, child support, 1099-MISC forms, worker’s compensation, unemployment, veteran’s benefits, housing allowance, etc.
- If you are unable to provide any of the aforementioned items, please submit a special circumstance letter indicating which document(s) you are unable to provide and why. This information will be shared with your school for consideration.

Creating Your Account
Please visit https://studentfinancialaid.blackbaud.school/ and create your account by entering your primary email address as your username. Blackbaud Financial Aid Management will use this email address to contact you in the event that your application is “on hold” for missing documentation. Once you create your username and password, you will receive a verification email. Once you click the verification link to verify that you are the account holder, you will be able to log in using the username and password you created. Please be advised that if you do not click the verification link that is sent to your email address, you will not be able to log in or reset your password.
- Section 1 – Household Information
Parent/Guardian: Enter the parent or guardian’s contact information. Dependent: Enter all dependents that live in the household. For dependents in college, select the “attending another private school” status option. - Section 2 – Selecting A School
Enter your school’s five-digit code (03906) or name in the search box. If you want to search for schools near you that are participating in the Blackbauch Financial Aid Management program, you can search by city and state. Make your selection by checking the select check box. Once a school or multiple schools are selected, you will then need to select the student(s) you wish to apply for aid at the appropriate school(s). After the school(s) have been selected, you will then need to select the upcoming grade for the student, student (if applicable), and expected tuition (if applicable) for the upcoming year. Clicking “next” after each section will allow you to move on to each subsequent section. - Section 3 – Income & Expenses
Enter any income the household receives; employment, business or supplemental. If the work status is selected as “employed,” “self-employed,” “unemployed, receiving benefits,” or “disabled, receiving benefits,” you will be required to enter this income source in the appropriate section before moving through the application. Please enter all expenses as they pertain to your household. - Section 4 – Assets & Debts
Enter all assets and debts as they pertain to your household. - Section 5 – Special Circumstances
Check off any special circumstance that pertains to your household. If no option available best describes your household’s circumstance, please check “other” and describe your situation. This information is confidential and will only be available to designated School Administration and Blackbauch Financial Aid Management staff. - Section 6 – Submit
If your school uses family school codes, please make the appropriate selection. Agree to Blackbauch Financial Aid Management’s terms and conditions, then click SUBMIT to complete your online application.

Submitting Documentation
Documentation should be submitted at the time the application is completed. Application IDs must be included on all documents. Failure to include your ID will delay processing of your application. Please be advised that each document must be uploaded separately under the appropriate document type for your application to automatically move into the review status.

Application Rollover
If you created a Smart Aid account to apply for financial aid in a prior year, your application will roll over into the next school year. Your username and password will remain the same, as well as your application ID number (with the exception of the first two digits as that indicate the school year). The parent/guardian and dependents section of the application will be auto-filled for you, you will simply need to confirm the information before advancing to the next sections of the application. If any information from the parent/guardian and dependent section should be updated, please make the necessary changes.

Notification of Financial Aid
Please allow 10 business days for processing. Once your application is processed, a financial aid recommendation will be forwarded to Bishop Miege. All final financial aid decisions, including notification of an award amount (if any) will be made by Bishop Miege. FAQs
Q: Who should complete this aid application?
A: Student’s parent or legal guardian.
Q:Why do I need to input my spouse’s information if I am remarried and they are not legally responsible for my children?
A: Blackbaud’s calculation works off of the total household income, therefore including all income, whether the party is legally responsible for your children or not. Our system, however, does take into effect your spouse’s expenses as well as their income. It is important to list all expenses that are asked of within the application.
Q: I do not have the required tax documents.
A: Include the most recent tax documentation you have available. If you are asked for a specific line from a tax document that you have not yet completed, please estimate the projected amount. All applications require a copy of the most recent federal tax return.
Q: How will I know if I qualify for aid or not?
A: Blackbaud does not disclose information about the results of your application. All final tuition aid decisions, including notification of an award amount (if any), will be made by Bishop Miege.

Q: What if I want to edit my application?
A: Once an application has been submitted and paid for it can no longer be edited by a parent. However, if changes are necessary, a written statement with the change (including the application ID) should be sent to financialaidsupport@blackbaud.school.

Bridge to the Future Scholarship

**The Bridge to the Future Scholarship Program History
Purpose
This program was established through the generosity of many benefactors for families who: wish to continue Catholic education through high school at Bishop Miege, and face financial challenges due to:
- A significant increase in tuition costs from grade school to high school
- Unique family circumstances
- Anticipating multiple children in high school in the future
- Not qualifying for traditional financial assistance
- Finding that traditional financial assistance is not sufficient
Qualifications
- Academic effort and performance
- Record of good citizenship
- Service to the Church/community

- Student essay – about a page in length explaining how a Miege education will help you reach your life goals

Acceptance & Decision
Since there is a limitation on the number of scholarships available, recipients will be required to register for the 2025-2026 school year at Bishop Miege within 14 days of notification in order to ensure their scholarship award.
Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen
The McGurren Family Scholarship
This one-time scholarship of up to $5,000 is for an incoming high school freshman. Students must demonstrate financial need, graduate from an Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas grade school, and be high-achieving students with no discipline issues. Students must apply for admission at Bishop Miege & financial aid by Oct. 31. Please reach out to pmarnett@
Foundation Scholars Award – (based on performance on the high school placement test)
Awarded for exemplary performance on the high school placement test for $1,500 for freshman year
Mary Ann Lucas Scholarship (awarded by the Johnson County Catholic grade schools)
Named in the honor of this past teacher, administrator, and friend of Miege who dedicated more than 30 years to the school, this $300 award is for students who attended regional Catholic grade schools. It is renewable as an honors scholarship at $150.
Merit Scholarship (based on performance on the High School Placement Test)
For outstanding performance on the Miege placement test for $1,000 for freshman year
Pastors’ Scholarship (awarded by the parish priests)
Awarded by the pastor of each parish in the region for 10% of tuition. It is renewable as an honors scholarship at $150.
Archbishop Ignatius Strecker Scholarship (available to students who received a Pastors’ Scholarship, but they must apply)
Awarded to one freshman based upon school achievement and service to the parish with nomination by the pastor
Principal’s Scholarship (based on performance on the High School Placement Test)
For outstanding performance on the Miege placement test for $1,250 for freshman year
Bill Rost Scholarship
Awarded to freshmen based on performance on the language portion of the entrance exam for $750
Matty Molnar Scholarship
Established in memory of Matt, a 1996 graduate who passed away suddenly while in the seminary. His strong devotion to the Church and his Catholic faith brightened the lives of everyone around him. This $500 award goes to a St. Ann graduate who displays these same characteristics.
STAG Scholarship
Awarded to freshmen based on performance on the High School Placement Test for $700 for freshman year
Brian Tarwater Memorial Scholarship Fund
Brian’s Fund Scholarship awards an eighth grader $2,500 who has been accepted at Bishop Miege and several other Catholic schools.

Tony Aguirre Scholarship
This scholarship will provide financial assistance to students pursuing a private high school education in the Kansas City area and who are engaged with the Guadalupe Centers as an athletic program participant, coach, or volunteer.

Hibernian Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for a student that will be attending a Catholic High School and is a parishioner of a parish in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas or in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph.

Achievement Scholarships (Current Students)
Brian Christian Memorial Scholarship (awarded by the sophomore class)
Named in the honor of a student in the Class of 1985 who reflected life to others in an extraordinary way, this $400 award is given to one sophomore boy and one sophomore girl each year. Recipients must have exhibited a positive, caring attitude toward others.
Eric Druten Memorial Scholarship (awarded by the Miege faculty)
Named in honor of a student from the Class of 1990, who showed us all the meaning of courage, this $500 scholarship is given to one junior who displays character, courage, and enthusiasm for life.
Bishop Miege Honors Scholarship
Recipients of the Pastors’, Strecker and Lucas Scholarships may qualify for an Honors Scholarship annually following their freshman year. The $150 award is based on student performance.
The Sean Clark 21 Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship recognizes a student entering sophomore, junior, or senior year who embodies the qualities of Sean Clark — someone who values inclusion, courage, compassion, and faith, and who strives to make a positive difference in the lives of others. The student will need a nomination from a teacher, faculty member, or coach who has observed these qualities in them.
Financial Aid Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded in place of any financial assistance awarded.
Miege Scholarship
Providing partial tuition reduction and based on financial need of family, this program is funded by Call-to-Share, the Mother’s Club, the Mike Hickey Memorial Fund, and the General Scholarship Fund.
Bob Frazier Alumni Scholarship
This scholarship is based upon citizenship and achievement for students who may not otherwise be able to attend Miege for $3,400. It is renewable based upon performance.
Thomas E. Sullivan/Janis M. Steinbrecher Scholarship
For students who otherwise would be unable to attend Miege, this $1,500 award is also based on school citizenship and achievement. It is renewable based upon performance.
Rose Teicher Scholarship
Established to enable students to attend Miege who would otherwise not be able to based upon financial resources, the scholarship criteria includes need, scholarship, character and service. The award covers the cost of tuition and is renewable, based upon meeting the above criteria.
Walt Tylicki (Soft Hart) Scholarship
Awarded to incoming freshmen for $1,000 based on financial need and character
Christine Mayne Scholarship
Awarded to a female student who excels in math and science for sophomores-seniors
RJ Rhoades Scholarship
Awarded to incoming freshmen based on financial need and character
Other Assistance
Family Tuition Reduction
When more than one student from a family is simultaneously enrolled at Bishop Miege for any one academic year, tuition reduction is given to the family. A second child in a family automatically receives a $350 reduction. Additional children of the same immediate family pay no tuition.
Payment Plans
While tuition is normally prepaid during the summer before the school year, or half during the summer and half in December, arrangements have been made through a payment service for a monthly payment option.
Tuition Insurance
The Breadwinner Fund pays all remaining tuition of a student attending Miege in the event of the death of a parent who provides the main financial support of the family. The fund pays half of all remaining tuition if the student is registered but not yet attending.
Work Study
A limited number of work study positions are available to reduce tuition costs. Maximum possible earnings would be approximately $1,200. Contact our business office for more information.
