Program Summary
The Bishop Miege girls tennis program thrives on a strong foundation of experienced players mentoring newcomers, fostering a team-first mentality and love for the sport. With over 50 athletes at times, the program has achieved 8 top-2 finishes at regionals in the past decade, along with multiple state qualifiers and placers. This program is a place where all athletes can flourish, building skills, confidence, and lifelong connections. The team’s growth is driven by leadership, camaraderie, and a commitment to success on and off the court.

Andrew Groene
Coach Andrew Groene is entering his 16th year at Bishop Miege, where he has made a lasting impact both in the classroom and on the court. He has taught math and engineering, served on the administrative team, and also coached robotics.
A graduate of Emporia State University, Coach Groene played tennis at the collegiate level and has continued to nurture his love for the sport throughout his career. He truly enjoys the coaching process, mentoring students not only in athletic skill but also in discipline, teamwork, and leadership. He’s committed to the success of every player, both on and off the court, and feels grateful to be part of the Miege community.
