Seven New Faces Bring Their Experience to the Stag Family

The heart of Bishop Miege is our incredible faculty, and this year, we’re thrilled to welcome seven new faces to the team. They bring experience, energy, and a passion for Catholic education. We know they will make an impact on our students this year. Get to know each of them below!

Chris Bergida

Before Miege:

“I taught at University Academy Charter School as a business and computer science teacher. I also coached football at Olathe East High School for three years.”

Why Miege:

“I am excited to join and experience the rich academic culture and athletic tradition at Miege. It will be amazing to be able to share the Catholic faith with the teachers and students around me.”

Summer Fun:

“This summer, I went to a family reunion near Chincoteague Island in Virginia, where I got to spend lots of time with my parents, siblings, and my twelve nieces and nephews.”

    Cliff Erwin

    Before Miege:

“I have a background in broadcast television. I spent 10 years at local television stations between Joplin, Springfield, MO, and KMBC9 news in KC. I am currently working at The University of Kansas Health System and help manage our broadcast studio as well as shoot and edit patient stories for our daily broadcast. I’ve been here for 12 years.”

    Why Miege:

“I’m excited to join the Miege community because I’ve always wanted to teach and build a program, and I think that the students here are ready to learn and create as well. My oldest son, Jamie, is also an incoming freshman.”

    Summer Fun:

“My son, Jamie, and I went on a 12-day backpacking trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. We covered 70-plus miles, including climbing a 12,441 foot peak with eight others from our area.”

      Jake Klausner ’15

      Before Miege:

“Prior to this year, I spent the previous six years teaching middle school math at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Lenexa.”

      Why Miege:

“I am excited about the opportunity to teach high school; that’s what I originally wanted to do when I started teaching. And returning to Miege (class of 2015) will make it extra exciting!”

      Summer Fun:

“My family took a trip to Table Rock Lake.”

      Valerie Jamison ’98

      Before Miege:

“I was a teacher in Kansas City, Kansas public schools for the past 22 years.”

      Why Miege:

“As an alumni ’98, I am thrilled to be back home in the Miege community and watch my three girls experience the joy and tradition of Miege.”

      Summer Fun:

“This summer I have enjoyed spending time with my family including a family trip to Branson and lots of fun in the sun.”

      Teresa Mustan

      Before Miege:

“I was at Blue Valley Northwest teaching Spanish for 19 years.”

      Why Miege:

“Being a Catholic and being rooted in my faith, I’m looking forward to the faith aspect. From the people I’ve talked to and what I’ve heard from others, I’m excited to be part of the family of Bishop Miege because of all the great things I hear about the people who are there.”

      Summer Fun:

“I’m working as the kitchen lead on the welcome retreat that we’re having at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. It’s something different that I don’t do in my daily routine, and it’s been wonderful to serve.”

      Jerry Neal

      Before Miege:

“For the past seven years I’ve been a stay at home dad to six kids, full-time sports coach, and mostly children’s Uber. I worked for over 15 years prior to that in children’s social services in the KC metro area.”

      Why Miege:

“I feel I am already a member of the Miege community as my son is a recent (2025) graduate, my wife is a Miege graduate (1999), and my father-in-law is a Miege graduate (1971), and that is a small list of family that are graduates of Miege. I have been attending different sporting events with my father-in-law for well over a decade and in doing so have met many different members of the Miege community that welcomed me with open arms. I am excited to become even more involved in this wonderful community.”

      Summer Fun:

“I’ve spent a lot of time lounging at the pool with the kids, attending baseball, volleyball, and basketball games with the kids, and getting some last minute home projects completed before I get started on this exciting adventure at Miege.”

      Jeffrey Reed

      Before Miege:

“I served as the International Principal and Headmaster at multiple schools in China and earned a certificate in school management and leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. As the father of three, my oldest daughter is attending UMKC this fall.”

      Why Miege:

“I am excited about teaching motivated students and being part of the Miege community!”

      Summer Fun:

“I am doing a lot of study and visited my 96-year old grandfather in Mississippi, who is taking care of three children. I ride my bike almost daily and practice karate several times a week, and I will get my blue belt in two weeks.”

We’re proud to welcome these talented educators to Bishop Miege to provide your students the best education in Kansas City. Please join us in helping them feel at home as they begin this new chapter in our classrooms and community!
