A Transfer Student’s Journey to a Welcoming and Diverse Community
Coming into a school not knowing anyone is a scary transition. Starting a new school can be intimidating, but Miege has made that transition easier by being such a welcoming and diverse community.

As a first-year junior transfer here, Miege has brought a year of friendships, education, and spiritual life.
Starting over with support in a welcoming and diverse community
Coming into a school not knowing anyone is a scary transition. Starting a new school can be intimidating, but Miege has made that transition easier by being such a welcoming and diverse community.
Meeting people coming from all types of different backgrounds has given me a good opportunity to experience different perspectives of life. Miege students have brought such a positive impact on my first year, welcoming me in with smiles on their faces. Students here encourage each other, whether it’s helping with homework, including others, or letting you sit with them when you have no one. As a newcomer, I felt the love right away.

Faith and faculty that shape you
Spiritual life is a big part of Miege from the All-School Mass to Adoration, and our daily prayers have given me an opportunity to get closer to God. Classes like Theology give you an opportunity to learn about Catholicism and how to be a better person in your faith. The teachers play such a big role in faith — they do not just care about grades, but also truly care about you as a whole and will give you the best opportunity to build your faith. So find that teacher who can make an impact on your life.
Growing through involvement in an inclusive environment
But one of the most important things is to stay true to who you are in these next four years because they will be changing. Time goes by quickly. High school is a time for growth from self-development to academics to friendships. So get involved, step out of your comfort zone, and GO STAGS GO!
“As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body.” 1 Corinthians 12: 12-13
