About

At Bishop Miege Catholic High School, our commitment to student excellence is rooted in a mission of spiritual growth, academic achievement, and a lifelong call to stewardship.

As a Catholic college-preparatory school, Bishop Miege exists to first and foremost bear witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, shaping students to lead with purpose, think critically, and serve with compassion. Inspired by the teachings of Christ and the rich tradition of the global Church, we help students learn about what it means to live a life of faith as we partner with families to form young people who are prepared to make a difference in the world.

About Our History

Bishop Miege Catholic High School has been shaping students in faith, leadership, and scholarship since 1958, when it was established by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. With nearly 70 graduating classes and thousands of alumni around the world, our school has continually evolved to meet the needs of students while staying grounded in our mission.

The school is named in honor of Bishop John Baptist Miege, the first bishop of the Kansas Territory. His vast vicariate once encompassed much of the American frontier, including present-day Colorado, the Dakotas, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, and Wyoming. Bishop Miege was known for his tireless work, traveling across rugged terrain to minister to his congregation. He celebrated Mass in growing towns, often from the back of his wagon, sharing stories about faith and perseverance.

Mission Statement: Bishop Miege High School, a Catholic Community of Faith, strives to develop the potential of our students through spiritual growth, academic success and stewardship.

Nova Et Vetera
“The New and the Old”

Bishop Miege Catholic High School is a school that honors tradition while embracing innovation. Bishop John Baptist Miege’s coat of arms bears the Latin motto Nova et Vetera  — “The New and the Old” — a powerful expression about both his legacy and the foundational spirit of the school that bears his name. This phrase reflects a dynamic balance: one that values the wisdom of the past and the possibilities of the future, preparing students to lead lives of faith, intellect, and service in a changing world.
