Our Ace Mentors team earned the Design Creativity Award for best architectural design among schools across the Kansas City metro area, while our robotics team won the prestigious Creativity Award for its innovative dual-shooter robot design while facing off against 36 teams from across the U.S. and Mexico at the Greater Kansas City Regional.
Journalism and Fine Arts
The yearbook earned a Pacemaker Finalist award for the first time in school history, and for the third year in a row a newspaper staffer was named the 3A-4A Student Journalist of the Year (Elaina Gibson). For her piece Finally, Mary Alice Solano won the Archbishop’s Award, the highest honor at the Archbishop’s Invitational High School Art Exhibit.
Athletics
Last school year, our teams won three state championships, highlighted by our girls soccer team, which now holds the KSHSAA record as the first boys or girls team to win nine consecutive state titles. Our athletics program also expanded with the addition of girls flag football as our sixth club sport, giving even more students the opportunity to compete and connect.
Speech and World Language
Six students earned the National Speech & Debate Association Academic All-American award, our most in nearly two decades. We also had multiple students receive the national Premier Distinction award, the highest honor a student can receive. Seven students in French IV–VI earned the Kansas Seal of Biliteracy in our pilot year, reflecting proficiency in English and French.
Project Lead the Way
Bishop Miege is one of only seven high schools in Kansas and the only private school to be named a Project Lead The Way Distinguished School for 2024-25. This recognition celebrates our commitment to expanding access and achievement across our three PLTW pathways: Computer Science, Biomedical Science, and Engineering.
Voices from Our Community
Our community is what truly sets Bishop Miege apart. Every day, we learn, grow, and support one another in a place that creates a culture of belonging. Here’s what some of our students and teachers have to say:

Caroline Gibson, Class of 2027
“Bishop Miege is definitely the most welcoming community that I’ve ever been a part of. You meet a person once, and they remember your name, and they’ll say hi to you in the hallways. It doesn’t matter if you’re a freshman or a senior, you can still be friends, and they’ll still help you with anything that you need. All the teachers are so welcoming and they really invest in your lives for more than just school.”

Sophia Nugyen, Class of 2026
“The Miege community is close to my heart. It is unique because of how tight-knit everyone is, especially in faith. The community of faith at Miege has been my rock during times of hardship. The clarity and support I’ve received has given me the strength to face each day with the knowledge of Christ’s love for me. Being a part of Miege is not only purposeful and inspiring, but is a true example of Christ-like love.”

Jacob Taylor, English Teacher
“It is a true joy of mine to be a member of this community. I have colleagues who support me, lift me up, and make me happy to walk into the building every day. I have students who make teaching not a draining experience, but an energizing one, asking excellent questions, pushing themselves to do their very best work, and making me smile and laugh on a daily basis.”

JC Clark, Project Lead the Way Department Chair
“The Project Studio and the PLTW program here does an amazing job bolstering our students’ confidence and ability to integrate diverse concepts, tools, and skills to solve problems. I have had many alumni share with me how well their time here prepared them for the rigors of engineering degrees, internships, and even jobs.”

Ivan Baca, Class of 2028
“We always pray to encourage the Holy Spirit to come down on us, to influence us and help us make good choices. I feel a sense of security knowing that I am united in Christ. Just by being there in the presence of Him, He really flows through me whenever I pray silently.”

Mary Aguilera, Class of 2026
“I love how any time I’m walking in the hallway there’s somebody that I know and that I’m connected to. I feel like I have a connection to most people in this building, and I think that’s really special. You can’t find it anywhere else. Miege prioritizes two things that I really prioritize in my own life: faith and community.”
Our Gratitude
This recognition is a reflection of the entire Bishop Miege community. Our students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni create a place where faith, learning, and community come together to inspire growth every day.
For freshman Maclin Strahan, the sense of belonging stood out the moment he stepped on campus. He immediately felt welcomed and inspired to grow both personally and academically.
“On the first day when I saw all the people cheering, I felt like I’d already been here for a while. I love Miege for the chances it gives me to go to the next level.”
— Maclin Strahan, Class of 2029
