Living the Joy of Catholic Education by Working at Bishop Miege
“The Miege community is more than the sum of its parts; together, as faculty, families, and students, we accomplish a great deal more than we could on our own. It is a treat simply to be a small part of that immense legacy and impact.”
By: Jacob Taylor, English Teacher
Like many of our students, I have spent most of my life in Catholic schools here in KCK; my grade school, high school, and college experiences were all at schools within this Archdiocese. This Archdiocese has done so much to form me, and it is a real honor and privilege to be able to give back by working here at Bishop Miege.
It is not just an honor, however; beyond that, it is a true joy of mine to be a member of this community. I have colleagues who support me, lift me up, and make me happy to walk into the building every day. I have students who make teaching not a draining experience, but an energizing one, asking excellent questions, pushing themselves to do their very best work, and making me smile and laugh on a daily basis.
Supportive colleagues build a stronger school
I have rewarding conversations with parents who are involved in their students’ lives and can make direct and specific comments about what we have been doing in class. I am amazed as I watch our student athletes accomplish feats that I would never have expected from young teenagers. I coach a dedicated team of Scholars Bowlers who model sportsmanship and perseverance. I have been proud to watch former students grow to new heights in their latter years here, and have been touched as they drop by to visit my classroom anyway.
A community rooted in faith formation
I am grateful beyond belief for these experiences and for the gift of coming to work here every day. The Miege community is more than the sum of its parts; together, as faculty, families, and students, we accomplish a great deal more than we could on our own. It is a treat simply to be a small part of that immense legacy and impact.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3:16
